There is a shout out to Hickman’s “S.H.I.E.L.D.” work a few years ago, which was brilliant and beautiful and rarely talked about. This book helps bring to a close central themes that have been at work for years in other comics, and in doing so, it shows the real dynamic of Val Reed. The title is really about her, and everyone else deservedly becomes a prop for her to work with. The art is fun, this softer, almost 1980s retro look that was used for kid comics.
